The short version
- Stylists we list: we only use information you've made public for your business, like your business name, Instagram, booking link, town and photos of your work. We never show a home address. You can ask us to correct or remove your listing at any time.
- Members: other members see your username, your reviews and whether you're verified, never your real name. We keep your name, email, area and plan to run your account. If you verify with Instagram, we keep your handle so we can show you're verified.
- Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see your card number.
- We don't sell your information and we don't use advertising cookies.
1. Who we are
Pink List Technologies Ltd (company number 17039158, registered in England and Wales), trading as PINKLIST, of Unit 82a, James Carter Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 7DE, United Kingdom, is responsible for your information (the "controller" under UK data protection law). Contact us about anything in this policy at tola@pinklist.co.uk. Our ICO registration number is ZC269762.
2. Stylists we list
Many listings on PINKLIST are put together by us before the stylist has an account, so people can find specialists for Afro and textured hair near them.
What we use
- Your business or trading name, and your name if it's how you present your business.
- Your public business accounts and links: Instagram, TikTok, website, booking page.
- The town or area you work in, and whether you work from a salon, from home or as a mobile stylist. For home and mobile stylists we show the town only.
- The hairstyles and services you offer, your opening times and prices if you've published them.
- Photos and videos of your work that you've posted publicly, so members can see your style.
- A business phone number or email only if you've published it for bookings.
Where it comes from
Your own public business pages: Instagram and other social media, your website and booking pages. We don't buy data and we don't use private messages or private accounts.
Why, and our lawful basis
We rely on our legitimate interests, and yours, in helping clients find stylists who specialise in their hair. We've weighed this against your privacy: we only use what you've made public to promote your business, we never show a home address, and you can remove your listing at any time.
Your choices
You can claim your listing and manage it yourself, ask us to correct anything, or ask us to remove it. Email us from the account or email linked to your business, or message PINKLIST on Instagram. We act on removal requests within 7 days and won't list you again unless you ask us to.

If you tap "Use my current location", your device's location is used to sort stylists by distance. We don't keep it.
Other members can see your username, your published reviews, whether you're verified, the star rating stylists have given you, and whether you appear among our top reviewers. They never see your real name or email. Stylists can see reviews of them, and the appointment date you gave, so they can confirm it.
4. Stylists with an account
As well as your listing, we keep your name, email, plan and payment status, what you add to your listing, the details you give to prove a listing is yours, and the ratings you give customers for appointments. We use these to run your account and your listing (contract) and to keep the directory accurate and reviews genuine (legitimate interests).
5. Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run PINKLIST, such as our membership and payments platform, website hosting, database and email providers. They may only use it to provide their service to us. Card payments are taken by our membership platform and its payment provider under their own privacy terms.
Some providers are based in, or use staff in, the United States. Where your information leaves the UK, it's protected by the UK's approved safeguards. For the full list of providers, email tola@pinklist.co.uk.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to deal with a payment dispute (see our Terms), or to protect someone's safety.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account: while you're a member. If you close your account, we delete it within 30 days, except as below.
- Payment and plan records: 6 years after the end of the tax year, because the law requires it.
- Published reviews: when you close your account, we remove your reviews or show them as from "a former member", without your username.
- Listings: until the stylist asks us to remove them or we stop listing them.
- Emails with us: up to 2 years after the conversation ends.
- Visit statistics: up to 2 years.
- Closed accounts: we keep a short record (your email, name, account type, plan, the dates and the reason you gave for leaving) for 2 years after your account is closed, to deal with any payment questions and to recognise you if you come back.
7. Cookies and storage
We only use what's needed to run the site: keeping you logged in, remembering choices like your filters, and noting the hairstyles you look at so we can suggest stylists you might like. This stays on your device and you can clear it in your browser. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Stripe uses its own cookies on its checkout and billing pages, to keep payments secure.
Visit statistics
To see which pages are useful, and to show stylists how many people view their listing, we count visits to each page. We do this without cookies and without storing anything on your device. For each visit we record the page, the date, the website that sent you (for example Instagram), whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, and whether you're logged in. To count each visitor once a day, we turn your IP address and browser type into a random code that changes every day and can't be turned back into your IP address. We never store your IP address. We rely on our legitimate interests in understanding how the site is used. Stylists only ever see totals, never who viewed their listing.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your information;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop or limit using it, including objecting to anything we do based on legitimate interests;
- send it to you or another service in a common format.
Email us and we'll reply within one month. It's free. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Children
PINKLIST is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly keep information about children. If a photo of a child appears on a listing, tell us and we'll remove it.
10. Changes
We'll update this page when anything changes, and email members about any important change.
